Tesla Model Y (2025): The Juniper interior in detail
After months of rumors and sneak peeks, the new Tesla Model Y has made its debut first in China and then in Europe. It comes with a redesigned front end and rear end with a new light signature. All elements that stand out. Just like the recent and more than questionable escapades of the company boss.
But let's take a look at the interior of the new Tesla Model Y, which is pretty much identical to that of the previous model. With the classic and very minimalist Tesla décor. And yet there are innovations. And quite a few. Here they are in detail ...
Dashboard
A central monitor and nothing else. From there, you control all functions. The first innovation is the size: Previously, the diagonal was 15 inches, now it rises to 15.4 inches. The software retains the same graphics as always, but is even faster and more responsive, with improvements also in connectivity: 300% more download speed to better enjoy streaming content and download OTA updates faster.
The most important detail: In contrast to the revised Model 3, the Model Y still has a classic turn signal lever on the steering wheel.
As usual, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are missing: For music streaming, you can use Spotify or Apple Music, which are integrated into the software. When it comes to maps, on the other hand, there is nothing better than the Google Maps-based maps with the locations of all Superchargers.
The transmission selector has also remained, a thin vertical line on the left side. Under the monitor are the two induction plates for wireless charging of smartphones. They are not ventilated, but the materials - according to Tesla - prevent overheating. The steering wheel has a new design, which was carried over from the Model 3, which is also new.
Tesla Model Y, the 8-inch monitor for the rear passengers
There is a new 8-inch monitor in the rear. A high-resolution touch screen with a precision worthy of that of a high-end smartphone to control the climate and multimedia content: music, videos or games. It's just a shame that the position isn't ergonomic if you want to play a video game.
Materials and workmanship
Here, too, the innovations in the interior of the new Model Y are not immediately apparent. The dashboard is now finished with a strip of fabric. There is also a light strip that extends over almost the entire passenger compartment and runs through the door panels and dashboard. Not only does it bring a touch of color to an otherwise overly sober environment, but it also provides a pleasant diffused light.
The redesigned seats, both front and rear, are shaped to enclose the body without constricting. In addition, the front seats are ventilated, a feature long requested by Tesla customers.
Spaciousness and luggage space
At 4.79 meters, the Model Y has been extended by four centimeters. And so you always feel comfortable, no matter where you sit. In the rear, even the tallest people have no problems. So, if you are not a professional basketball player, you can rest assured. Also for your head: The glass roof actually doesn't steal any centimeters of height.

The additional length also brings with it an increase in load volume, which reaches 2,138 litres with the (electrically) folded rear seat backrests. There is no official information on the minimum volume, but it could be higher than the 854 liters of the current generation.
